Many years ago whilst serving in the Royal Air Force I was able to purchase a plaque representing the Unsworth family coat of arms. (Above Left). It was a novelty and at the time quite exciting. Eventually it made its way home to my mothers and twenty nine years later still adorns the wall in the living room. It was all but forgotten for many years and although I would notice it from time to time I never quite understood the significance of it. Years passed and I started to lose family members. Nan passed away and then my father, aunts also. My mum in her late years still remains sharp with some memories but time fades her recollections of family members and I thought if I don't do something about it now, time will also fade the history of our family too.Although many details will probably never be saved now, what I have managed to find will remain forever with the family on record. I decided to see what I could find regarding my Unsworth family but it soon spread to my maternal family which included The Walker and Cherry side and the searching got wider and wider until I felt I was living breathing and especially dreaming distant relatives. My older brother Roy and I remain the last of the name of Unsworths for this branch as no sons were born to us, and with our demise the name will cease. Albeit in principle it will carry on indefinately through other family members. This then is my legacy to the family. I will try and update as long as possible and hopefully it will then pass to others to carry it on. I set the record as best I can and to the best of my knowledge and ability. The site is concerned with the Unsworth's paternally and should have maternally included Eliza Ann's family known as Tynan, but it has proved very difficult to obtain enough information to include it here, therefore I have occluded her side of my family for the forseeable future. The Walker's and Cherry's are my mothers side. Any information regarding my end of the Unsworth, Walker, Cherry or Tynan family would be very welcome. I have designed the website in my own format to keep it as simple as possible. Thank you for visiting. Jeff Unsworth

Footnote. My findings in relation to my family are true to the best of my knowledge. I have built the website simply on the findings of Census results and all birth death and marriage certificates that I have managed to find. Any discrepencies are solely mistakes made on my part and I endeavour to make these right as time and committment allows. The Census results are not wholly accurate and it is a detective story trying to decypher them, but I have done what has been possible given my results. The latest versions of internet explorer have issues with windows vista 64 bit operating machines. This system is not yet compatable with flash player and consequently is unable to show the flash movies in the website. If using widescreen monitors, please reduce resolution to 1088x612 to get a better view. The Website has been put together in various resolutions but I have decided to leave it at 800x600 as this seems the most used at this time. other resolutions will not allow the website to be viewed correctly but this is beyond my control and has caused me nightmares at times. I hope you enjoy the site and call back soon.
